Now for a little background information on Sharon Katz and The Peace Train. Sharon Katz, a Caucasian woman, is from South Africa, in a place now called Nelson Mandela Bay. After her “Peace Train tour” in 1993, she gathered 150 performers to perform with her around the nation.
Together their goal was to influence people from all around the world to stop violence and come together as one. This is when those 150 people became known as The Peace Train. After being on CNN, the Independent Electoral Commission asked Katz to write and perform songs to help teach people how to vote. This was all because Nelson Mandela was to become the first democratically elected President in South Africa.
They wanted to show ways to transition to a new a peaceful democracy.
Bucks is more than thankful that Sharon Katz is willing to come out to the school and provide us with the soulful entertainment. Especially right after The Peace Train 2016 tour. The tour was designed due to all the problems that the world is currently facing.
Sharon Katz main goal is to unite youth and adults from all cultures and continue Nelson Mandela’s dream.
