The Tyler Literary Society is calling for new writers

The Tyler Literary Society reinvents itself for the upcoming semester and is looking for like minds to push their creative envelope beyond just the literary arts.

Eric Specian, club advisor, is excited for the future of the club and has an innovative vision of the literary society. He sees the club as a creative outlet for students imaginatively inspired by literature and art.

“I’m really excited for this club to get up and running,” Specian said. “There is so much beauty in the minds of students that needs to be shared.”

The member count in the Tyler Literary Society is still fairly low.

“We are lacking members.” The club is in need of some fresh and creative minds to make it a success.

Specian is in search of a strong, motivated team with exceptional originality, creative personalities and ideas. He hopes for students with a passion for literature and the arts to come forward and share his zeal for the club by becoming active members, making the vision a reality.

Open events such as writing workshops for student authors who are interested in meeting other students with similar interests and advancing in their writing will be offered. A late night event will be hosted by the literary society. It will be an exciting experience for all those who appreciate the arts. It will consist of poetry, short readings, music, art and guests.

The club will also include the publication of a magazine representing all forms and genres of student art and literature per semester including, but not limited to, drawings, paintings, photographs, graphic novels, poems, short stories, and plays. Prompts and themes for writers to follow will be distributed for the magazine as suggestions, though all art and writings will be accepted.

Submissions to the magazine are welcome at any time, for any publication, and by any student—all genres of literacy and types of art are welcome, and will be both edited and rated by student members in the club.

If you are interested in becoming a member please contact the club at [email protected] or Eric Specian at [email protected] for more information.
