Bucks Signs More Transfer Agreements

Bucks Signs More Transfer Agreements

What do Albright College, Gwynedd Mercy College, Holy Family University Division of Extended Learning, LaSalle University, Strayer University, Temple University, and University of Phoenix have in common? Each has a Core to Core Transfer Agreement with Bucks County Community College. A Core to Core agreement is desirable for students because it allows a student to achieve his or her educational goals in a timely and cost effective manner.

The most desirable feature of Core to Core transfer agreements is the fact that, after the Associate degree is earned, a student can begin at the transfer institution with their core requirements met, regardless of whether or not the courses taken at Bucks are exact equivalents to the transfer school’s core requirements. In each agreement, there may be some exceptions. However, in general, the student begins at the transfer school as a junior and may immediately begin work on only those course requirements for the major.

For example, a student may receive a BCCC Associate degree without ever having taken a history course to fulfill the core curriculum portion of the degree. Meanwhile, the transfer institution may require, as part of its core curriculum, that its students complete two history courses. However, once the Bucks graduate transfers to that institution, with whom we have the Core to Core agreement, the BCCC graduate will be considered to have that school’s core completed and will not be required to take the two history courses.

Like many transfer agreements, Core to Core agreements also may afford significant scholarship opportunities for the Bucks graduate.

Transfer Advising at Bucks County Community College is available at the Advising Center located at the top of the stairs in Rollins Center, across from the cafeteria. We encourage all students seeking to transfer to meet with one of our counselors and learn about which schools and transfer arrangements may be best suited to an individual’s unique educational and career interests.
