On the one-year anniversary of of the shutdown of Bucks County Community College’s three campuses due to the Covid pandemic, the Centurion staff produced a special edition of the paper, one we called “A Socially Distant Year.” In it, we covered breaking news – the announcement of staff layoffs due to plunging enrollment, an interview with the college’s outgoing president – along with stories on how the pandemic was affecting people’s mental health, and how watching sports just wasn’t the same without fans in the stands.
It was an unprecedented moment in the history of the college, and the planet. As student journalists, we tried to do justice to that moment in time.
