The Philadelphia Phillies and the playoffs are two things fans love to hear together. Having success so far this season it seems the playoffs are likely, but will the Phillies make it to the playoffs? Fans have a lot to say about it.

Gabe Beres (22) of Doylestown says, “The season is not over yet, but they are heading in the right direction and the team itself is very good.” Beres continues “they need more offensive power and more home runs when they are on base.”

So far, the Phillies have a record of 76-61-0 and are second place in the NL East while holding the top wildcard spot. With over 150 home runs this season, they are looking good from a statistical point. The Phillies hold the 10th place in home runs and fifth place in batting average so far this year.

23-year-old Bucks Student and Social Media Marketing major, Jhonny Tate, says “Well, last season the players were hitting more home runs. This year, the team’s well put together and the playoffs are possible.”

However, he would like to see the pitchers changing up their tactics, making it tougher for the opposing team’s batters to hit the ball. Tate said this about the Phillies going to the Playoffs “They can go as far as they can take the game”.

In comparison to last season, the Phillies finished with a record of 87-75-0 finishing third in the east division along with over 205 home runs.

21-year-old Computer Science Bucks Student Prudhiui Jandhyala says, “They are doing better this season in terms of having good strategies compared to last season. A lot of good adjustments were made.” Jandhyala ends with “They should be managing their subs better; I think their tactics and their strategy could be improved.”

According to MLB, only the Braves with a 100 percent chance and Dodgers with 99.8 percent chance have better odds to make the postseason.

“I believe they will win the division,” says Emily Myers, a 19-year-old Bucks student Majoring in Business Administration. “They are coming together as a team and are having a similar season with only two more losses this year compared to last year at this time.” However, Myers also shares their discomforts with the team, stating “the front office management could be improved because they can always be improved somehow in professional sports.”

Many fans agree that despite strategy issues, the Phillies will make the playoffs this year with a good team and a good lineup. However, can they make a deep postseason run at a Worl Series? We’ll just have to wait and find out with these next upcoming games.
