Day for All Women Celebrating 21st Year

The Annual Day For All Women symposium will be celebrating its 21st year and is scheduled for October 18, 2003. “It’s a day for women, and was created by women for women,” said Denise B. McCardle, who is on the conference committee. “Attendance usually exceeds four hundred, and this year we are trying to attract the younger women in the under thirty age group.” Nevertheless, all women are welcome.

The event will consist of fifty-nine workshops focusing on personal, spiritual, and financial matters. In addition, there will be twenty workshops per session.

The focus and goal for A Day For All Women is to “showcase women’s talents and knowledge as well as their potential through the expertise of women presenters that serve as role models,” said the conference committee.

The activities will begin at 8:15a.m. with registration at the Gateway Center, during which coffe and refreshments will be served. This will be followed by the opening welcome at 9:00a.m in the gymnasium. The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Beth B. DuPree, M.D., a well known surgeon specializing in breast cancer.

Later in the afternoon along with Dr. DuPree , physicians, and specialists from St. Mary’s Medical Center will be answering questions on women’s health issues such as heart disease, breast cancer, hormone replacement therapy, and a host of other topics.

Not only will there be a variety of workshops to choose from but also a buffet lunch will be included. Child care will also be available if needed. “So there is no excuse for a woman not to come,” said McCardle. In addition, there will be door prizes at the end of the event.

Whether it’s business, dealing with a disease, or learning how to age gracefully, topics are a wide variety.

Among the many workshops: “Home Based Businesses: Why?,” “Nutrition Is Not Only What You Eat,” “Fighting Cancer with Family.

The event is to be co- hosted by Bucks and the Bucks County Commissioner’s Advisory Council For Women “which is a board of volunteers undertaking various projects to benefit women in Bucks County.”

Fee is $30 which includes morning coffee and lunch. Child care fee is $5 per child. For registration see Tina Esher in Rollins 8 or call 215-968-8188.
