Here at Bucks County Community College there are many scholarships that are available to students.
There are no fees to fill out the applications and they are open to all students attending Bucks. One doesn’t need to be a full time student to take advantage of these scholarships.
Applying for Bucks scholarships gives you a chance to get recognized and be rewarded money for all of your hard work and dedication. One can even be rewarded for staying active in the community and doing community service.
The most well known scholarship that Bucks has to offer is the Honors at Bucks scholarship. If you are planning to join the Bucks program, you can fill out the application for the Bucks scholarship and have a chance to be awarded two free semesters at Bucks.
There are many scholarships that one can apply to. Karen O’Donnell, Vice-President of Advancement, Executive Director of the Foundation, says “Bucks offers a wide range of scholarships so that many different students can find support that fits their needs and goals. Some awards recognize academic achievement, while others are based on financial need, choice of major, community service, leadership, or involvement in extracurricular activities. We also have scholarships designed to support students who are the first in their families to attend college, veterans, single parents, and others who may face additional challenges on their path to a degree. No matter where you are in your journey, there is likely a scholarship created with you in mind, and Bucks is here to help you find it.”
In order to see if you qualify for these scholarships, go to bucks.edu/scholarships. Click the button that says “Apply for Scholarships” and fill out as many questions about yourself and the major you’re going for. The website does all the work for you by finding scholarships that match your major and background.
On the Bucks Scholarship Universe website, you will notice that you’re able to see the requirements that are needed to qualify for the scholarship and the amount that could be awarded if you are chosen as a recipient.
Most scholarships ask the same questions, so it is advised to apply for as many as possible.
If you need help applying for scholarships, there are zoom sessions as well as in person meetings that you can attend to get all of your questions answered. One can find these dates by going to the Bucks homepage and searching up scholarship events.
After applying to as many scholarships as you can, you will receive an email in a month or two from the Bucks scholarship email regarding your application status. If you are chosen as a recipient for one or all of the scholarships that you applied to, make sure to send the donor a thank you letter.
Guidance on what the thank you letter should include will be stated in the same email that says your congratulations.
Furthermore, there is an upcoming event for scholarship recipients. A scholarship celebration luncheon will be held on Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. This is for students to connect and meet with their scholarship donors. This gives the students a chance to meet the other recipients and to personally thank their donor(s).
When asking O’Donnell what advice she would give students to increase their chances of receiving a scholarship, she says “My advice is simple: be yourself, be thorough, and be on time. Scholarship reviewers want to understand who you are: your goals, challenges, accomplishments, and why a scholarship would make a difference in your journey. Write honestly and authentically in your essays and application responses; your real story matters more than trying to sound perfect. And most importantly, don’t miss the deadline. Submitting your application on time ensures you’re considered for every opportunity you qualify for. If you need help proofreading your materials or navigating the process, reach out. Bucks has staff ready to support you.”
Nonetheless, the Spring deadline for the Fall of 2026 semester is on April 1. If you have any more questions, reach out to Julianne Theodoropulos. Her email is [email protected] and her phone number is 215 968-8223.
