Four Car Fender Bender at East Gate Entrance

A car accident at the east gate of main campus on Monday, Sept. 8 left no one hurt, but four cars damaged.

A white Buick Century attempting to turn left into the campus struck a white Honda Civic traveling southbound on Swamp road at 9:10 a.m.

The Civic was propelled into a telephone pole on campus property, sliding across the grass, into an employee car and then a truck that were parked in the lot before finally coming to rest.

An unnamed witness avoided the crash at the last moment.

“I was the first car at the college trying to make a right. I didn’t turn because the white car was coming down. I saw him trying to make a left. He didn’t turn until she went by. I thought maybe he hit her in the back because her back end slid out.”

Chris Lloyd, from the Bucks Office of Security and Safety, said that the accident occurred outside of the campus, and was therefore not related to the college, despite the fact that a Bucks student was involved.

He further maintained that the question of safety regarding Swamp Rd. was a matter best left to Newtown Township and PennDOT.

Lloyd urges students to obey stop signs and speed limits, especially with the amount of students who must cross a heavily trafficked road on campus.

Newtown Police would not release the names of anyone involved in the accident.
