Bucks club leaves mark on new campus construction

Bucks club leaves mark on new campus construction

The members of the Habitat for
Humanity club were recently allowed
to sign their names to
the new building being constructed
as an expansion to the
Upper Bucks campus.
Club President Janine
Jasinski led the members
through the construction
site, so that the nine members
could all leave their legacy on the
Upper Bucks campus. Jasinksi
said, “The hope would be that the
clubs would continue to thrive at
the campus for years to come and
take advantage of the new space
available to them.”
The area of construction signed
by the students was the second
floor of the administrative suite.
The Habitat for Humanity club
helps to raise awareness of the international
organization’s mission,
raises money for their local affiliate,
and helps with local builds
conducted by the charity.
They also donate their spring
breaks to an Alternative Spring
Break Challenge. This program
sends the club members to another
state for a week in order to help
with a Habitat for Humanity
build. This year the club will
travel to Lexington, Va. for their
spring break holiday. Jasinksi
said, “We have this to look forward
to and fundraise for. Everyone
is excited, especially the four
[members] who have never experienced
it before.”
The expansion of the campus
into this new building was necessary
as Rodney Altamose, executive
director of the Upper Bucks
campus described, “The [Upper
Bucks campus] grew so quickly
and ran out of room to offer
classes. The new building (phase
two) offers a great deal of new
space for additional opportunities
for faculty, staff and student.the
community as well!”
According to the Upper Bucks
website, Phase two will be “cutting-
edge” and “green” (environmentally
friendly, not the color).
Phase two will be completed in
January 2010.
