There are dozens of clubs, teams and events on campus to get involved with. But finding this information can be difficult if you’re not familiar with student life at Bucks. Luckily there is an entire department dedicated to maintaining a positive campus community.
Chris Seifert, is the director of student engagement here at our Newtown campus. His departments aim is to encourage students to stop by the various activities and get a feel for what Bucks has to offer besides our academics. Seifert explains how the main goal is to create an “engaging, exciting campus”. He then says, “The best way for students to find out about activities and events is to download and check the Bucks+ app regularly.
Seifert explains how his department is, “encouraging our student leaders to get creative with their activities and to also make meetings more accessible for students regarding times and providing virtual options.” Seifert furthered his point by saying that he has had more applicants for new clubs this year than ever before. Highlighting the fact that students are interested in getting involved. Some club ideas students have had in the past include, “bird-watching, aviation, outdoor adventure, and strength and wellness”. Some of which are heading to our Student Government Association for review and approval in the coming weeks.
Last week during the school’s Student Involvement Fair, the department recorded 385 sign-ups suggesting a great turnout for the first full week of school. “We just want students to commit to any amount of extra time to learn more about what is offered here. Our hope is that they’ll enjoy it, they’ll make new friends, and they’ll make being engaged a regular part of being a Bucks student.”
Said Seifert.
